Pack Less!! Wear More!!

What To Pack For Vacation

You’ve booked your next vacation…YEAHHH!!!  Now what in the world do you pack to wear for your next trip?  If you’re like me sometimes, I’m totally guilty of throwing in my entire world into 2 suitcases for a trip and not having the right clothes with me when I’m out of town.

Layer it Up

First of all, I’m all about being comfortable on a plane when I travel.  We all know that they blast the AC in airports and on planes so I like to wear my biggest and bulkiest pieces when I’m commuting.

Think layer on layer, wear your heavy sweats, tennis shoes, sweater tied around your waist, and jacket when flying.  Then you won’t have to worry about stuffing these bulky items in a suitcase and you’ll have plenty to keep you warm during your flight and to layer with for your trip!

I wore this cotton jumpsuit with a jean jacket and my most comfortable white tennis shoes for flying to Hawaii.  These shoes were the best because I could wear them all day when we were walking around and exploring the island without my feet hurting.

You can also wear the same vacation layers to the pool or out to dinner.  This palm print kimono was my favorite layer to wear while in Hawaii!!!

Plan It Out

Try everything on and really think about what outfits your need for specific activities. For our family vacation trip to Hawaii, we had a lot of excursions and outdoor hiking planned.  So I had to make sure to bring the right type of swimsuits for snorkeling and warm layers for hiking Haleakala Crater.

Another trick that helped me to not over pack for our trip was bringing at least 2 tops per each bottom. No one will know if you wore a pair of shorts twice while on vacation if you wear a different top with it and change out your accessories.  Remember neutrals are easy to wear with different colors so I brought a pair of black paper waist bag shorts and these denim cutoffs to style with different tops and tanks.

I also brought a small travel sized bottle of fabric refresher with me.  Let’s face it, an outfit you wear only out for dinner isn’t really THAT dirty and you can totally wear it again another day by changing your shoes or adding a different layer.

Two-piece sets are also GREAT for traveling because you can really mix and match the tops and bottoms with so many different pieces!  I wore this cute palm print crop top and loose pants for diner one night.  Then just switched out the bottoms for these white cutoff shorts for a more casual day look!

Leave the Baggage At Home

No need to bring a separate purse for every outfit girls!  Think neutrals when planning your hand bags…blacks, whites, greys, and browns go with just about everything!

This camel colored purse is the perfect sized crossbody for sightseeing and goes with any outfit.  Plus I brought along this foldable beach/pool tote to save room in my suitcase.
